O Senhor Babadook

Synopsis

Six years after the violent death of her husband, Amelia is at a loss. She struggles to discipline her 'out of control' 6 year-old, Samuel, a son she finds impossible to love. Samuel's dreams are plagued by a monster he believes is coming to kill them both. When a disturbing storybook called 'The Babadook' turns up at their house, Samuel is convinced that the Babadook is the creature he's been dreaming about. His hallucinations spiral out of control, he becomes more unpredictable and violent.

Amelia, genuinely frightened by her son's behaviour, is forced to medicate him. But when Amelia begins to see glimpses of a sinister presence all around her, it slowly dawns on her that the thing Samuel has been warning her about may be real.

User reviews

David Young
1/10

The score of The Babadook did not effectively capture the emotional depth and complexity of the characters' experiences. It felt disconnected from the narrative, failing to enhance the audience's understanding of the characters' struggles and fears.

Amanda Thompson
6/10

On the other hand, while the music successfully conveys the ominous atmosphere of the film, at times it feels a bit repetitive and predictable. The use of certain motifs and themes can become somewhat overbearing, making some scenes feel formulaic and less impactful than they could have been with a more diverse and nuanced soundtrack.

Richard Miller
1/10

The soundtrack of The Babadook felt repetitive and monotonous, lacking variety in its themes and melodies. It failed to evoke a sense of suspense or tension that would enhance the film's atmosphere.

Daniel Lewis
10/10

The use of subtle sounds and dissonant melodies in The Babadook's soundtrack adds layers of complexity to the storyline, enhancing the overall viewing experience. The music effectively amplifies the psychological horror elements of the film, making it a truly immersive and chilling experience.

Elizabeth Lewis
7/10

The soundtrack of The Babadook is haunting and atmospheric, perfectly setting the tone for the psychological horror of the film.

Ashley Nelson

The soundtrack of The Babadook effectively sets the tone for the film, creating a sense of unease and tension that grips the audience from the very beginning. The eerie and haunting melodies enhance the psychological horror elements of the story, adding layers of suspense to the already intense narrative.

Robert Thompson
7/10

The music immerses the audience into the dark and twisted world of the Babadook, adding an extra layer of fear and dread to the already chilling story.

Steven Anderson
9/10

The Babadook's soundtrack perfectly captures the tension and fear present throughout the film. The eerie and haunting music creates a sense of unease that lingers long after the movie has ended.

Mark Thomas
3/10

I found the music in The Babadook to be overly intrusive and distracting, often overshadowing important dialogue and visuals. Instead of complementing the story, the soundtrack seemed to compete for attention, making it difficult to fully engage with the film.

Ronald Garcia
8/10

The use of eerie melodies and unsettling sounds creates a sense of unease and tension that enhances the suspenseful moments throughout the movie.

Daniel Walker
7/10

Overall, the soundtrack of The Babadook is a masterful complement to the film, adding depth and intensity to the terrifying tale of a mother and son haunted by a malevolent presence.
