Synopsis

The Chocolate War is a novel written by Robert Cormier. The story follows a high school student named Jerry Renault who refuses to participate in his school's annual chocolate sale fundraiser. This act of defiance sets off a chain of events that leads to a power struggle between Jerry and the school's secret society, The Vigils.

As Jerry continues to resist the pressure to sell chocolates, he becomes a target for bullying and harassment from both his classmates and The Vigils. The novel explores themes of conformity, rebellion, and the abuse of power.
