Synopsis

The Draughtsman's Contract is a 1982 British film directed by Peter Greenaway. The film is set in 1694 and follows the story of Mr. Neville, a talented draughtsman who is hired by Mrs. Herbert to create a series of drawings of her estate.

As part of the contract, Mr. Neville is required to spend a week at the estate, during which time he becomes entangled in a web of deceit and intrigue. He soon discovers that there are hidden motives behind Mrs. Herbert's request for the drawings, and that he may be being used as a pawn in a larger game.
