The Great British Baking Show follows a group of British home bakers who are convened for a baking competition. Each week, there is a theme to the competition, focusing on different types of goods such as cakes, cookies, and pastries.
During each week's competition, the bakers are given a set amount of time to complete three challenges, which are then evaluated by expert judges. The first challenge is the signature bake, where competitors bake something from their own recipes to showcase their baking style.
The second challenge is the technical challenge, where all competitors are given the same recipe for a baked good they may have never heard of before. This challenge tests their knowledge of baking concepts, and the finished products are evaluated blind by the judges.
The third challenge is the showstopper challenge, where competitors must create a visually stunning baked good that is as impressive in appearance as it is in taste.
At the end of each week, the judges name the best competitor star baker based on the three challenges, and one competitor is sent home. The final three competitors enter the finale, where the overall competition winner is crowned.
