Synopsis

The world's toughest race is about to be seen in a whole new light in Hornsby Films' new documentary, The Hammer, about a rookie cyclist's attempt to win the Race Across America (RAAM). The film follows famed adventure racer Jason "The Hammer" Lane, during his 2012 RAAM attempt and spotlights the rider's rookie, but well-meaning crew in a way never before described. When The Hammer is struck, run over and dragged away by a car on the third day of the race, the movie takes a turn no one anticipated. The film Hammer literally puts the viewer in the driver's seat of a RAAM tracked vehicle. It exposes the friendships, conflicts, perseverance and humility that goes into riding a 3,000-mile transcontinental bicycle race and getting one man, on a bicycle, cross-country safely in less than 10 days.
