Synopsis

The Turn of the Screw is a horror novella written by Henry James. The story follows a young governess who is hired to take care of two orphaned children at a remote country estate in England. As she settles into her new role, she begins to see strange apparitions of a man and woman who she believes are the ghosts of the former governess and her lover.

Despite her efforts to protect the children from these malevolent spirits, the governess becomes increasingly convinced that the ghosts are trying to possess the children's souls. The novella explores themes of madness, innocence, and the supernatural, leaving readers to question the governess's sanity and the true nature of the haunting.
