Synopsis

Trail of the Pink Panther tells the story of the Pink Panther diamond being stolen once again from Lugash, leading the authorities to call in Chief Inspector Jacques Clouseau (Peter Sellers) from France. However, his plane disappears en-route.

This time, famous French television reporter Marie Jouvet (Joanna Lumley) takes it upon herself to solve the mystery. She starts interviewing everybody connected to Clouseau, including Charles Dreyfus (Herbert Lom), Sir Charles Litton (David Niven), Lady Simone Litton (Capucine), George Lytton (Robert Wagner), Hercule Lajoy (Graham Stark), and Cato Fong (Burt Kwouk), who all share their experiences with Clouseau.

Marie is also kidnapped by mobster Bruno Langlois (Robert Loggia), who doesn't want Clouseau found. Despite the danger, she perseveres and eventually finds Clouseau, Sr. (Richard Mulligan), Clouseau's father. The question remains: Is Clouseau alive or dead?

Each interview in the film features not-yet-seen or famous clips from previous movies, as Peter Sellers had passed away. Marie continues her quest to get an honest view or impression of the great French detective.
