Transit is a novel written by Anna Seghers, originally published in 1944. The story follows a German refugee named Georg who escapes from a concentration camp and flees to Marseille, France. In Marseille, Georg assumes the identity of a dead author and tries to secure passage on a ship to Mexico. However, as he waits in the city, he becomes entangled in the lives of other refugees and must navigate the complex bureaucracy of obtaining transit visas.
