William and Mary is a short story written by Roald Dahl. It follows the story of a man named William Pearl who is terminally ill and decides to donate his brain to science after his death. His wife, Mary, agrees to the plan and after William's passing, his brain is successfully removed and kept alive in a laboratory.
However, things take a dark turn when William's brain begins to communicate with the scientists through a telegraph machine. The brain demands to be given a body so it can experience life again. The scientists are initially hesitant but eventually agree to the brain's request.
William's brain is transplanted into the body of a gorilla, and the story ends with William's brain expressing gratitude for the opportunity to live again, even if it is in a different form.
