The music in Z for Zachariah often felt out of place and did not match the tone of the scenes. Instead of enhancing the atmosphere of the post-apocalyptic world, the soundtrack sometimes distracted from the tension and drama unfolding on screen. It was a disappointing aspect of an otherwise intriguing story.
