Sinopsis
Un Steinway antiguo con cuerdas oxidadas, insectos taladradores de la madera y pelo de gato que obstruye la acción, es arrastrado a un taller y restaurado en el transcurso de un año por un colorido equipo de técnicos dirigido por Richard Davenport, un renombrado pianista de Los Ángeles. American Grand captura la transformación del Steinway de 1913 de un naufragio a una belleza brillante. Hay reveses, escaramuzas y revelaciones sentidas. ¿Quién sabía que restaurar un piano podría ser tan dramático? En el camino, la película sigue el trabajo externo de Richard Davenport en Twentieth Century Fox, Herb Albert's Vibrato Jazz Club y otros lugares de Los Ángeles, al tiempo que presenta extractos de las obras de compositores que van desde Bach a Irving Berlin, interpretados por catorce internacionales pianistas.
