Sinopsis
Desde el nacimiento del cine hasta la década de 1960 en los Estados Unidos, la mayoría de las películas pornográficas fueron películas breves, en blanco y negro, producidas de forma anónima conocidas como "películas de soltero", "películas azules" o "fumadores", así llamados por el humo salas llenas donde los hombres se reunían para proyecciones privadas. Inicialmente filmada en película de 35 mm, la llegada de las películas de consumo de 16 mm y 8 mm permitió la producción de aproximadamente 1000 de estas películas entre 1915 y 1968. Esta película examina la película de "ciervo" no tanto por el tema ni por la falta de valor de producción. sino como metáfora y reflejo de la cultura popular estadounidense. Con imágenes de películas de la colección privada de películas de "ciervos" más grande de América del Norte, American Stag es un estudio asombroso de un fenómeno subterráneo del cine en el mundo occidental.
