Sinopsis

En Londres, el militar Alan Bernard está hablando por teléfono con su cuñado Gordon Zellaby en Midwich cuando hay una interrupción en la comunicación con el pueblo.

Alan se dirige al pueblo británico y descubre que todos los habitantes han caído inconscientes al mismo tiempo y que cualquiera que cruce la frontera se desmaya.

De repente, los habitantes despiertan al mismo tiempo. Dos meses después, Anthea Zellaby le dice a su esposo Gordon que está embarazada.

Pero pronto, el Dr. Willers y Gordon se dan cuenta de que todas las mujeres en el pueblo en edad fértil están embarazadas.

Anthea y las demás mujeres dan a luz a niños perfectos y pronto el Dr. Willers nota que todos los niños tienen ojos extraños, uñas cortas y cabello rubio diferente.

Gordon también descubre que su hijo David es el líder de los niños que no tienen sentimientos y que lo que uno aprende, los demás también lo aprenden.

Además, son capaces de leer y controlar mentes y representan una amenaza para los habitantes de Midwich.

¿Será capaz Gordon de mantener a los niños bajo control?
