Sinopsis
Billy Tyne es un capitán de barco pesquero de espada de Gloucester, altamente competitivo y afectado por una serie de malas salidas.
Su tripulación apenas regresa al puerto cuando les dice que van a salir de nuevo, a pesar de que es octubre y el clima puede volverse feo. Cinco se unen a él: el joven Bobby, recién enamorado; Murph, un padre devoto recientemente divorciado; Sully, un tipo que Murph desprecia; Bugsy, que finalmente conoce a una mujer que le gusta; y Alfred, un jamaicano tranquilo.
