Sinopsis
La película comienza con cazadores furtivos atacando a un grupo de gorilas. Los conservacionistas luchan contra los cazadores furtivos, lo que termina con una gorila y la madre de una niña muertas. En medio del caos, un bebé gorila particularmente grande ataca al líder de los cazadores furtivos, Strasser (Rade Serbedzija), y le arranca el pulgar y el dedo índice.
La historia salta inmediatamente al futuro, donde la joven Jill Young (Charlize Theron) ha crecido, y el gorila ha crecido hasta medir quince pies de altura y pesar dos mil libras.
