Sinopsis

En el año 2058, la Tierra pronto será inhabitable después de los efectos irreversibles de la contaminación y el calentamiento global. El profesor John Robinson, científico principal de la Misión Júpiter 2, liderará a su familia hacia el planeta habitable Alpha Prime para prepararlo para la colonización.

La Júpiter 2 está equipada con un hiperimpulsor que permite viajar más rápido que la luz, lo que eventualmente se utilizará para evacuar a los ciudadanos de la Tierra. Sin embargo, se deben construir hiperpuertas en la Tierra y en Alpha Prime para proporcionar puntos de partida y llegada estables.

El Dr. Zachary Smith es sobornado por una organización terrorista para sabotear la misión, y termina siendo un polizón involuntario cuando la nave despega.
