Sinopsis
El propietario de un bar de Texas, Julian Marty, quien generalmente no es considerado una buena persona, contrata al detective privado sombrío Loren Visser, quien logra obtener lo que Marty solicita: evidencia, en este caso fotográfica, de que su esposa, Abby, y uno de sus camareros, Ray, están teniendo una aventura.
A medida que Ray y Abby se dan cuenta de que Marty ha descubierto su relación, les permite planificar su futuro lejos de Marty, al mismo tiempo que son sinceros con Marty sobre la situación. Marty, a su vez, decide contratar a Visser una vez más, esta vez para matar a Abby y Ray, y deshacerse de sus cuerpos para que no sean encontrados.
La aventura a la vista de todos y el asesinato por contrato llevan a algunas acciones basadas en el interés propio y a un enfrentamiento de cierto tipo entre los cuatro jugadores, que se ve complicado por algunas suposiciones erróneas sobre lo que ha sucedido, con un espectador inocente, otro de los camareros de Marty, Meurice, potencialmente, y sin saberlo, añadiendo a la situación.
