Sinopsis
Es la historia de una adolescente y su viaje de una noche al inframundo del consumo de drogas. Janis es una joven latina de dieciséis años, solitaria y desorientada, que vive con su madre divorciada y su hermano en Washington Heights, Nueva York. Comienza a salir con Deborah, una compañera de su clase de baile, quien, una noche, le presenta una multitud "alternativa" e "hippy" de otros adolescentes. Todos pasan el rato juntos en el Lower East Side, donde consumen drogas y escuchan rock y música trip hop para pasar los fines de semana. Janis, intrigada, no puede evitar involucrarse. También conoce a Rick y su amigo Bill, dos adictos a la heroína de diecisiete años. Ella se siente atraída por Rick de inmediato y lo sigue en una carrera salvaje en el East Village.
