James Chance and the Contortions (inizialmente noto semplicemente come Contortions, un gruppo spin-off si chiama James White and the Blacks) è un gruppo musicale guidato dal sassofonista e cantante James Chance, formato nel 1977. Erano un atto centrale di New York City la scena musicale no wave di downtown alla fine degli anni '70, e furono presenti nell'influente compilation No New York (1978).
