Sinossi
Durante un viaggio di lavoro segreto, Mark scopre che sua moglie Anna sta diventando inquieta in quello che credeva fosse il loro matrimonio felice. Al suo ritorno a casa, scopre da lei che vuole il divorzio.
Entrambi attraversano una serie di emozioni diverse legate alla loro situazione, Mark è generalmente ossessionato dal capire perché Anna, che ama ancora, vuole il divorzio, e Anna è generalmente sempre più isterica nel cercare di allontanarsi da Mark.
Al centro della situazione c'è il loro figlio neonato Bob, che Mark usa come metro di valutazione dello stato mentale di Anna.
Anna afferma che il suo desiderio di divorzio non è dovuto a un altro uomo, ma Mark scopre che Anna ha un amante di nome Heinrich.
Nel frattempo, Mark incontra anche l'insegnante di Bob, Helen, che assomiglia esattamente ad Anna, ma è il suo opposto in termini di temperamento. Iniziare una relazione con Helen attenua la sua ossessione per Anna.
Ma mentre gli incontri di Mark e Anna raggiungono livelli emotivi e violenti, Mark, con l'aiuto di un'agenzia investigativa privata, scopre che la vita amorosa di Anna non è esattamente come appare. La vera ossessione di Anna ha un processo piuttosto macabro e nulla la fermerà nel raggiungere il suo obiettivo finale.
