Lo studente universitario Patrick Costello condivide un appartamento con il suo amico d'infanzia Nick e ha una cotta per la sua professoressa Laurel Young. Patrick ha premonizioni attraverso sogni e sogni ad occhi aperti sin da quando era un bambino e recentemente sta prevedendo la morte di giovani donne. Riesce a uscire con Laurel e presto scopre che sta anche frequentando la sua amica e anche il professor Theodore "Ted" Steering, che è il serial killer ricercato dalla polizia. Ora Patrick cerca prove per dimostrare che Steering è un assassino per proteggere la sua amata Laurel, ma nessuno crede alle sue parole. Quando Steering invita Laurel a viaggiare con lui in un'altra città, Patrick ha delle premonizioni sul fatto che lei diventi la sua prossima vittima. Cosa può fare per salvare Laurel?
