Sinossi
Basato sulla vera storia del pianista australiano David Helfgott, questo delizioso film racconta gli anni traumatici dall'infanzia all'età adulta.
Raccontando la storia in flashback vediamo David come un bambino prodigio e mentre cresce mentre suo padre patriarcale lo abusa insieme ai suoi fratelli con il ricordo della sua infanzia in Europa e la perdita della sua famiglia nei campi di concentramento.
David alla fine si libera dal padre e va a studiare all'estero, in seguito subisce un crollo e torna in Australia e a una vita in un istituto.
Molti anni dopo viene rilasciato e attraverso diversi colpi di fortuna (in realtà ancora più improbabili di quanto il film ritragga) inizia a suonare il pianoforte in un bar prima di tornare infine alla sala da concerto.
