Sinossi

Spies Like Us racconta la storia di due candidati totalmente incompetenti, Emmett Fitzhume e Austin Millbarge, scelti da un programma di reclutamento della CIA. Vengono paracadutati in Pakistan e finiscono in Afghanistan, inseguiti dai russi, dove scoprono di essere usati come esche per attirare le difese sovietiche.

Due veri spie vengono inviate per la missione di dirottare un lanciamissili sovietico, lanciare il missile sovietico e testare il nuovo laser di difesa orbitale degli Stati Uniti. Il missile viene lanciato e, mentre si dirige verso una città americana, il sistema laser manca il bersaglio.

Il piano di contingenza per questo scenario, stabilito dai pazzi del Pentagono che lo hanno pianificato da un bunker segreto sotterraneo, è di lasciare comunque che la Terza Guerra Mondiale abbia luogo.
