Sinopse
No futuro próximo, onde "a combinação" controla a televisão e as notícias, uma ameaça de bomba leva o super policial Jansen à sede da combinação. Nada acontece, mas seu chefe lhe dá quatro dias para resolver o engano.
Coisas estranhas ocorrem: no primeiro dia há um assassinato na combinação; referências vagas ao inimigo da combinação, Krysmopompas, aparecem; o sobrinho do chefe da combinação confessa a ameaça de bomba, embora não tenha sido ele quem fez.
Jansen permanece focado, entrevistando funcionários que receberam prêmios especiais (impressos no papel usado para a ameaça de bomba).
Ele está prestes a descobrir algo grande ou a ameaça de bomba foi apenas uma brincadeira? E o que é esse 31º andar, supostamente escondido nos 30 andares da sede da combinação?
