Sinopse

The Tale of the Three Brothers

Once upon a time, there were three brothers who were traveling along a lonely, winding road at twilight. In time, the brothers reached a river too deep to wade through and too dangerous to swim across. However, these brothers were learned in the magical arts, and so they simply waved their wands and made a bridge appear across the treacherous water.

But as they were crossing the bridge, they found themselves confronted by a hooded figure. It was Death, who felt cheated because travelers usually drowned in the river. In an attempt to outwit Death, the brothers asked for a prize. Death granted their wish, and each brother was given a magical object of their choosing.

The eldest brother, who was a combative man, asked for a wand more powerful than any in existence. Death granted his wish and gave him the Elder Wand. The second brother, who was an arrogant man, asked for the power to bring back the dead. Death granted his wish and gave him the Resurrection Stone. And the third brother, who was a wise man, asked for a way to leave Death behind for good. Death, reluctantly, gave him his own Invisibility Cloak.

Years passed, and the brothers went their separate ways. The eldest brother, boasting of his powerful wand, was killed in his sleep by a thief who stole the Elder Wand. The second brother, unable to accept the limitations of the Resurrection Stone, took his own life in despair. And the third brother, using the Invisibility Cloak to evade Death for many years, finally greeted Death as an old friend and departed this world as equals.

And so it is said that the three brothers were the first to conquer Death, but in the end, it was Death who triumphed over them all.
