The New York Dolls were an American rock band formed in New York City in 1971. Along with the Velvet Underground and the Stooges, they were one of the bands later credited as influences of the soon to be punk scene and performed twice a week regularly at the Oscar Wilde Room of the Mercer Arts Center.
