In the year 480 B.C., the Persians, in their expansion westward across the Balkan peninsula into Greece, will fight the Greeks in the famous battle at Thermopylae.
Here, the mighty Persian war machine, which has conquered most of the known world, will clash with the Greek army led by 300 Spartan soldiers spawned by a warrior society of Sparta.
The only thing standing in the way of Persian advance toward Athens, at the narrow passage between the sea and the mountains, are Spartans who will fight to the very last man.
This battle will go down in legend as one of the great military standoffs of all time.
