"A mi madre le gustan las mujeres" is a story set in Madrid, where the middle-aged pianist Sofía reveals to her daughters Elvira, Gimena, and Sol on her birthday that she is in love with the talented Czech pianist Aliska, who is twenty years younger than her.
The sisters, who are bigoted, are shocked by this revelation and struggle to accept the fact that their mother is a lesbian. Elvira is an insecure and neurotic aspiring writer with a job at a publishing house, Sol is a rock band singer, and Gimena is married with a troubled marriage.
Upon discovering that their mother has lent all her savings to support Aliska's education, the sisters decide to seduce Aliska in an attempt to make her leave their mother. However, when Aliska returns to her country alone and their mother falls into a deep depression, they realize they need to change their approach.
Meanwhile, Elvira meets the writer Miguel and begins a clumsy relationship with him, adding another layer of complexity to the story.
