Lino, a penniless Pugliese emigrant to Turin, is an unwelcome guest in his sister and brother-in-law's house. Engaged with Rossana, a beautiful and attractive cashier, and friend of the dumb boy called Parola, who works as a scullery boy at the Sport Bar, one morning in the same bar, while Lino fills out a ticket, Parola suggests him to insert the "2" in Juventus- Catania, Lino, at first reluctant, finally lets himself be persuaded, and, thanks to the advice of Parola, he manages to make a thirteen at the Totocalcio for 1 billion and 300 million lire. Lino, left by his girlfriend who does not know that he is the winner that everyone is looking for, hunted by friends Gaetano, Ciccio and Leo who would like gifts and by Don Raffaele, a mafia boss who demands 130 million interests, flees with Parola to the French Riviera , hiding the money in the spare wheel of the car; however, stopping in Sanremo, Parola lets himself be tempted by the game and loses all of Lino's money at the casino. But luck is still on their side and in the end with the last chip they will win three billion lire and Word will start talking again.
