Synopsis

American Psycho is a novel by Bret Easton Ellis that follows the life of Patrick Bateman, a wealthy and successful investment banker living in Manhattan during the 1980s.

Patrick appears to be a charming and handsome young man, but beneath his polished exterior lies a dark and violent personality. He becomes obsessed with material possessions, status symbols, and his own physical appearance.

As Patrick's mental state deteriorates, he begins to indulge in increasingly sadistic and depraved acts of violence, including murder. However, his crimes go unnoticed by those around him, who are too preoccupied with their own superficial concerns to see the truth.

American Psycho is a chilling exploration of the emptiness and moral decay of the yuppie culture of the 1980s, as well as a disturbing portrait of a man teetering on the edge of sanity.
