Antares is a film that follows three parallel stories of women in crisis after a deadly car crash. These women live in the same Vienna apartment block and are facing their own struggles behind closed doors.
A bored nurse with a stable family life engages in a wild extramarital affair with a traveling salesman who is obsessed with sex photos. Their affair is almost-wordless and adds excitement to her otherwise comfortable life.
Meanwhile, an unstable young Austrian grocery checker lies about being pregnant to keep her philandering Yugoslavian boyfriend. She is desperate to hold on to him, even if it means deceiving him.
Lastly, a recent divorcée is dealing with her violent ex-husband who is in denial about their breakup and is determined to win her back. Will these women's lies and moral failures ultimately save or destroy them?
As the women navigate their fears and struggles, the film explores whether they can safely express themselves and find a way to move forward from their crises.
