Apollo 13 is a 1995 American space docudrama film directed by Ron Howard. The film depicts the harrowing true story of the Apollo 13 mission, which was intended to be the third manned mission to land on the moon.
However, an oxygen tank explosion on board the spacecraft severely damaged the spacecraft and jeopardized the lives of the three astronauts on board: Jim Lovell, Fred Haise, and Jack Swigert.
The film follows the crew's struggle to survive in the harsh conditions of space, as well as the efforts of NASA's ground control team to bring them safely back to Earth.
Apollo 13 stars Tom Hanks as Jim Lovell, Kevin Bacon as Jack Swigert, and Bill Paxton as Fred Haise. The film was a critical and commercial success, earning nine Academy Award nominations and winning two Oscars for Best Sound and Best Film Editing.
