Atlantics is a film directed by Mati Diop that tells the story of Ada, a young woman in Dakar, Senegal, who is in love with a construction worker named Souleiman. However, Ada is promised to another man, and Souleiman decides to leave the country by sea in search of a better future.
When a mysterious fire breaks out at the construction site, it is believed that Souleiman and his friends have died at sea. However, strange things start happening in the city, and Ada begins to suspect that Souleiman has returned as a ghost to seek revenge.
The film explores themes of love, loss, and migration, as well as the supernatural elements that are intertwined with the characters' lives. Atlantics received critical acclaim for its unique storytelling and powerful performances, and it was selected as the Senegalese entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards.
