Axolotl Overkill is a German drama film directed by Helene Hegemann, based on her novel of the same name. The story follows Mifti, a 16-year-old girl who is living in Berlin and struggling with her dysfunctional family and her own identity.
After the death of her mother, Mifti is left to navigate the world on her own, seeking solace in drugs, alcohol, and casual relationships. She forms a close bond with a woman named Ophelia, who introduces her to a hedonistic lifestyle that further complicates Mifti's already tumultuous existence.
As Mifti spirals out of control, she must confront her own demons and come to terms with the reality of her situation. The film explores themes of youth, rebellion, and self-destruction, painting a raw and unflinching portrait of a young woman on the edge.
