Pauline (Emma Watson), Petrova (Yasmin Paige) and Posy Fossil (Lucy Boynton) live with Sylvia Brown (Emilia Fox), their guardian. Money is a case, and as the story begins, three interns: a garage owner, a retired English teacher, and a dance teacher, come to stay. Theo Dane (Lucy Cohu), the dance teacher, gets the girls accepted into his school by the formidable Madame Fidolia (Dame Eileen Atkins), and the three take the stage to help raise money. Each one discovers her talent: Pauline as an actress, Petrova in engine repair and Posy as a dancer.
