Barbershop is a movie that takes us through a day in the life of a barbershop on the south side of Chicago. Calvin, who inherited the struggling business from his deceased father, initially sees the shop as nothing but a burden and waste of his time. However, after selling the shop to a local loan shark, Calvin starts to realize his father's vision and legacy and struggles with the regret of selling out.
The barbershop is filled with characters who share their stories, jokes, trials and tribulations. Eddie, an old barber with strong opinions and no customers, Jimmy, a highly educated barber with a superiority complex who clashes with Isaac, the new, white barber eager for a chance to cut hair, Ricky, an ex-con trying to stay on the straight path despite his past, Terri, a tough woman stuck in a toxic relationship, and Dinka, a barber in love with Terri but unnoticed by her.
