Synopsis

Batwara is a story set in India after the British Rule, revolving around a princely family led by Bade Thakur (Shammi Kapoor). His sons include Devan (Vijayendra Ghatge), Vikram Singh (Vinod Khanna), and a third son who is a Police Officer (Mohsin Khan).

Devan is threatened by the changes occurring in India, particularly the diminishing power of princely families and zamindars. In contrast, his brothers embrace the change, with Vikram befriending a peasant named Sumer Singh (Dharmendra).

However, fate has a different plan for these friends. Tensions rise to a point where Bade Thakur must consider dividing the estate. How will this decision impact the relationships between the father and his sons? And what will happen to the friendship between Sumer and Vikram?
