Before the Rain is a 1994 film directed by Milcho Manchevski. The movie is divided into three parts: "Words," "Faces," and "Pictures."
The first part, "Words," follows a monk who takes in a young Albanian girl seeking refuge from the war. Their relationship is complicated by the monk's vow of celibacy and the girl's past as a rape victim.
The second part, "Faces," focuses on a London-based photo editor who returns to his native Macedonia to confront his past. He becomes involved in a love triangle with a Macedonian woman and an Albanian painter.
The final part, "Pictures," brings all the characters together in a violent and tragic climax that explores the themes of love, betrayal, and forgiveness.
