Synopsis

Big Little Lies is a novel by Liane Moriarty that tells the story of three women living in a wealthy beachfront community in Australia. Madeline, Celeste, and Jane become friends as their children attend the same school, but their seemingly perfect lives are shattered when a murder occurs at a school trivia night.

The story is told through flashbacks and interviews with other residents of the town, revealing secrets, lies, and betrayals that have been simmering beneath the surface of their seemingly idyllic lives. As the investigation into the murder unfolds, the women must confront their own demons and come to terms with the truth about themselves and each other.

Big Little Lies explores themes of domestic violence, friendship, and the facade of perfection that many people feel pressured to maintain. The novel was adapted into a critically acclaimed HBO miniseries starring Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, and Shailene Woodley.
