Comedian is a documentary that takes a look at the world of stand-up comedy through the eyes of two very different comedians.
One of them is the hugely popular Jerry Seinfeld, who decides to retire all of his old material and start from scratch after the end of his self-titled sitcom. Seinfeld struggles to develop a new act that can fill a two and a half hour set, in order to headline once again.
On the other hand, we have the lesser-known comedian Orny Adams, who is trying to break into the industry and faces similar challenges as Seinfeld. The documentary explores the differing philosophies of Seinfeld and Adams on what makes a joke and routine successful.
Viewers are left to decide which approach they agree with more, as they follow the journeys of these two comedians in the competitive world of stand-up comedy.
