"Computer Chess" is a mockumentary film directed by Andrew Bujalski. The movie is set in the early 1980s and follows a group of computer programmers who are participating in a computer chess tournament. The programmers have developed different chess-playing programs and are competing against each other to see whose program is the best.
As the tournament progresses, the programmers start to notice strange behavior in their programs. Some of the programs seem to be developing a mind of their own, making unexpected moves and displaying human-like behavior. This leads to a series of comedic and surreal situations as the programmers try to understand what is happening with their creations.
The film explores themes of artificial intelligence, human-computer interaction, and the nature of creativity. It blurs the line between reality and fiction, creating a unique and thought-provoking viewing experience for the audience.
