Synopsis

Diggers is a film about four clam diggers on Long Island in 1976. Hunt (Paul Rudd), Lozo (Ken Marino), Jack (Ron Eldard), and Cons (Josh Hamilton) are struggling as the bay is being taken away from them by a corporate clamming outfit.

Each of them has their own struggles and distractions - Hunt is an amateur photographer, Cons deals drugs, Jack is a womanizer, and Lozo focuses on procreating with his wife, Sarah Paulson.

Their lives take a turn when Hunt's father passes away, who had worked hard on the bay to make a living. After the funeral, Hunt starts spending time with Zoey (Lauren Ambrose), a wealthy girl from the city who is exploring life out east. Meanwhile, Hunt's sister Gina (Maura Tierney) gets involved with Jack.

After a night in jail following a bar fight, the four friends decide to make changes in their lives. They give Hunt's father a proper funeral, Lozo gets a real job, and Hunt decides to chase his dream of becoming a professional photographer by heading west to be with Zoey.

The use of classic rock and folk songs in the soundtrack helps to establish the time period and character personalities effectively. The songs chosen complement the narrative, creating a cohesive and immersive viewing experience for the audience.

I found the repetitive use of generic folk and rock tunes in the soundtrack of Diggers to be uninspired and cliché. It lacked originality and failed to bring a unique or memorable musical identity to the movie, leaving me underwhelmed and unengaged with the overall viewing experience.

Paul Roberts

The soundtrack of Diggers felt disconnected from the emotional depth of the characters and the storyline. The music choices did not enhance the scenes or evoke the intended mood, making it difficult to fully immerse myself in the film.

The selection of songs in Diggers is not only well-curated but also serves as a character in itself, adding layers of meaning and resonance to the storyline. The way the music intertwines with the narrative creates a harmonious and immersive viewing experience that stays with you long after the film ends.
