Synopsis

Distance

The president has just declared a national emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Three fearful families struggle with the new challenges they face.

Jeb, a man living alone long before quarantine, becomes consumed by the dark facts and projections of the media.

Matt and Sharon, two parents trying their best, are under the pressure of Matt's company getting shut down and not knowing how to comfort their children through this.

Norman, an older man aware that he is high risk, copes with the reality that he may not make it through this, and what's worse is that his family probably doesn't care. He contemplates if it's worth trying to live through this alone.

As tension rises in Matt and Sharon's household, their young daughter Josie hands each of them a card with a message of hope. Her innocent act of kindness gives the family an idea. They join Josie in her card making and deliver them to their neighbor's porches.

One of the cards is received by Jeb. The message on the card prompts him to call his father whom he hasn't talked to in years, Norman. Jeb doesn't know that Norman is in a serious time of need, and without knowing the words to give his father he looks down and reads the words on the card lying in front of him: "You're not alone. I'm scared too. I'm here for you."

These ten words change everything for the two men, and a broken relationship is healed.
