Doctor Who: Scream of the Shalka

Synopsis

Doctor Who: Scream of the Shalka

The series begins as an unexplained meteor crashes into the side of a New Zealand volcano, unleashing the snake-like Shalka, an alien species with a deadly scream. Thousands of miles away in a Lancashire town, the T.A.R.D.I.S. materializes on a Saturday night. The streets are empty, the pubs are deserted and random, unexplained pools of lava keep appearing on the ground. Time isn't on the Doctor's side and neither, it seems, are the town's inhabitants; with the possible exception of feisty barmaid Alison. When the T.A.R.D.I.S. disappears in a pool of lava and the Doctor and Alison are confronted by the hunting Shalka, it seems that there's just no way out.

One aspect I appreciate about the soundtrack is its ability to build suspense and create a sense of unease. The music perfectly complements the on-screen action, heightening the audience's emotions and drawing them further into the story.

Joseph Young
4/10

Another negative aspect of the soundtrack is its inconsistent pacing and tone. The music shifts abruptly between different styles and moods, making it feel disjointed and confusing at times. This inconsistency detracts from the overall viewing experience, as the soundtrack fails to effectively enhance the storytelling and emotional impact of the series.

The sound design of the soundtrack is top-notch, with each sound effect and musical cue adding depth and richness to the overall listening experience.
