Synopsis

Dogfight is a 1991 film directed by Nancy Savoca. The story follows a group of young Marines who hold a "dogfight" competition in San Francisco on the eve of their deployment to Vietnam.

The Marines challenge each other to find the ugliest date for a party, with the winner receiving a cash prize. Eddie Birdlace, played by River Phoenix, meets Rose Fenny, played by Lili Taylor, and convinces her to be his date for the evening.

As the night progresses, Eddie starts to develop feelings for Rose and realizes the error of his ways. The film explores themes of friendship, loyalty, and the impact of war on young soldiers.
