Dormant Beauty is a drama set in different Italian locations during the last six days of life of Eluana Englaro, a young woman who lived 17 years in a vegetative state. A mosaic of several interrelated characters questioning about the meaning of life and hope: a French film star (Isabelle Huppert) retires from acting and abandons everyone around her, hoping that her sacrifice will wake her young daughter up from coma; a depressed drug addict (Maya Sansa) is willing to die but a doctor (Pier Giorgio Bellocchio) wants to save her life; a young catholic woman (Alba Rohrwacher) falls in love with a young nonbeliever (Michele Riondino) while her father, a politician (Toni Servillo), is torn by doubts when he is asked to vote for something he doesn't believe.
