"Eeb Allay Ooo!" follows the story of Anjani, a young migrant who takes on the role of a contractual monkey repeller in Delhi. His job involves mimicking aggressive langurs to tackle the monkey menace in the city, after the original employees were let go due to animal rights concerns.
Despite facing challenges that threaten his dignity and courage, Anjani is motivated to continue by his pregnant sister. He decides to fight monkey business with his own tactics, leading to a series of struggles and misadventures that shed light on the realities of contemporary India.
The film incorporates non-professional actors alongside trained actors, using verité footage and crafted mise-en-scène to create a revealing account of the absurdity and starkness of the situation. "Eeb Allay Ooo!" premiered at the 3rd Pingyao International Film Festival in China and later at MAMI 2019 in Mumbai, where it won the Golden Gateway Award for Best Indian Film and the Young Critic's Award.
Additionally, the film was recognized at the NFDC Film Bazar in Goa and completed with the support of the PJLF Arts Fund in Paris. It had its European premiere at the Panorama section of Berlinale 2020, showcasing the unique and thought-provoking narrative of Anjani's journey.
