Synopsis

"Extras" is a novel written by Scott Westerfeld. It is the fourth book in the Uglies series. The story is set in a future world where everyone undergoes a surgery at the age of sixteen to become "pretty". The protagonist, Aya Fuse, is a fifteen-year-old girl who is not yet pretty and is considered an "extra" in society. She dreams of becoming famous and decides to document the lives of the popular people in the city. Aya's journey takes her to dangerous places and she discovers dark secrets about the society she lives in. As she uncovers the truth, Aya must decide whether to expose it or keep it hidden. "Extras" explores themes of fame, beauty, and the consequences of living in a society obsessed with perfection.
