American Lisa Hollis has just returned to Paris to restart her singing/songwriting career after leaving three years ago following the break-up with her then songwriting partner/husband, fellow American Charlie Hunter, Charlie the composer/pianist musician, Lisa the lyricist/wannabe vocalist. The wannabe refers to Lisa's want to sing, Charlie who always criticized her singing ability with they selling their songs to other artists to perform. Their relationship was borne out of a shared passion for music, and their break-up was over that same passion from a professional issue and not because they fell out of love with each other per se.
Lisa has just gotten emotionally back on her feet after the break-up. She discovers from her agent Marion that movie producer Moshe Mosek wants to hire her to write a song for his latest movie. The catch: hiring her is only on the caveat the song needs to be completed in four days, and that her songwriting partner would need to be Charlie, whose whereabouts she doesn't know and who she hasn't seen since their split. With a little manipulation, Marion is able to get Lisa and Charlie together to talk over the resurrection of their songwriting partnership if only for this short term job.
Charlie agrees despite he having stopped composing since their break-up. A little more difficult to convince is Charlie's new fiancée, Julie Sanson, his business partner in a real estate development project on her vast country rural property just outside of Paris. The outward issues are Julie and Charlie needing to make an imminent pitch to potential investor, M. Boulanger whose money they would require for the development to become a reality, and their wedding in three weeks, but Julie's real reluctance is Charlie spending time with his ex-wife.
The other problem with this job is that Moshe's nephew by marriage, Donnie Parks, is foisted upon them as their assistant, Donnie's professional life a series of jobs based solely on nepotism. To keep an eye on them and to ensure Charlie keeps focused on things in their future together, Julie invites Lisa to their farmhouse where they could work on this short term job. Beyond needing to overcome the plethora of issues that arise from distractions on the farmhouse, Lisa and Charlie will discover if the magic between them can happen again this second time around, either professional and/or personally.
