Synopsis

Farewell to the Night tells the story of Muriel, a woman who runs a farm in the French countryside. When her grandson Alex suddenly decides to leave for Syria to join the Islamic State, Muriel is devastated. She sets out to find him and bring him back home, but soon realizes that he has been brainwashed and is fully committed to his new cause.

As Muriel delves deeper into the world of radicalization, she must come to terms with the fact that she may never be able to save Alex. The film explores themes of family, faith, and the power of ideology to tear loved ones apart.
